After browning the meatballs, how long should they cook in the sauce for?

We made some the other day, browned them and then cooked them for a good 2 hours in the sauce but they were still pink in the middle.

I brown mine by putting them on a baking sheet in a 350 degree oven till browned all over (turning them as needed) 2 hours should then be enough time. Were they very large?

It seems like 2 hours is an awful long time. Were they maybe very large? Was your sauce laready cooking when you added your meat balls? Usually 45 minutes after browning is good enough. Sometimes I go an hour if they are what I consider larger meat balls. I would guess they had to be big is all. Try doing them the size of golf balls. That is a good size! Good luck!

You should cook the meatballs in a frying pan until they are completely brown; inside and out. Split one open to see if it is still pink, and it if it is, keep cooking 'em! After they are cooked, you can add them to the sauce that is already cooked.

It depends on how big the meat balls are - I usually make mine about the size of golf balls - after they have browned all over they cook in the sauce for 30 minutes
2 Hours seems a very long time to cook them for - are you sure the gas was turned on.

If you are unsure about cooking meat - invest in a meat thermometer like the one listed below

Firstly, did you add some tomato paste to the beef mixture before making the meatballs?? Also for a better tasting meatballs add two glasses of red wine to the sauce.

Try browning them for longer at a lower heat. I would cook them almost all the way through in the broiler.
