Well God left the word.... satan likes to lie to the world and promote other things for his entertainment. He likes to get people just as close to the truth and put a spin on it. Thats what I think. He's devious (as a snake) and can mess with folks...

Well, depending on your religion, it never got separated, because they never were the same! To Muslims, the four holy books are: Taurat (Torah), Zabur (Prophet Dawood's/David's book), Injeel (The Bible, New Testament) and Al-Quran (The Koran).

We Muslims believe that God, created Mankind and gave out these books as a commandment and guide to the respective Prophets' peoples. When one community got astray, and done as to their own liking (as Nuh/Noah's people had been flooded) they were set with a new book. So, in a very indiscriminate sense, no book is better than the other. It is up to the believers of that particular faith to interpret, understand and practise what is commanded by those holy books, and the doings of their respective Prophets.

Sure, some people said that The Bible and Torah had gone through changes by the human hand, so this maybe one factor why God set down another book, the Koran. And the Bible was not the first text if you look at it real carefully. Maybe you can refer to the Torah as the Old Testament, but technically the Torah was first, then the Zabur and then comes the Bible, then the Koran in chronological order.

In answering your question, we must put aside all arguments about the others' faith and have a discussion about it. History is exactly what it is : another guy's story. To look at it in the wholesome point of view is almost impossible. So, as I said a lot of time already, we have to agree to disagree if we ant to get along and understand.

I hope this helps!

The bible is a compilation of many texts. There are almost 600 pieces that did not appear in the bible because they were deemed unfit. Most of the writings that were left out were destroyed.

But of course it was not the only text.
Most of the stories that are included in the bible have much earlier versions, most of these were written on clay tablets, and many of those ancient clay books were found in Mesopotamia.
one could say that the bible, especially the myths in genesis, are rewrites.

The bible was never the only text and in fact if you believe that everything the bible says is true, then it is a relatively new book.
