Trust, Honesty, Communication and Love.
Because if you don't trust someone, then you'll have a hard time being honest with them about certain things, if you can be honest, then you can communicate, if you can communicate you will become better friends. And love just might happen. And sex? sex is great, but if there isn't any love? It's pointless.

Definitely trust, honesty, communication and love (not necessarily in that order!). Without the above sex is nothing.

truth honesty communication and love are the most important traits in a relationship and they also make the sex better

Honesty. If you don't have that then you can't have trust, if there's no trust then there's just no point to the relationship.
Sex is just the icing on the cake hon, it's great, but it's not the be all and end all.

Communication & Honesty. That is the best start to a very good relationship, then you fall in love, then you have hot butt naked sex to cap it all fall.

Trust, honesty, love, devotion, compassion, intimacy (non-sexual), etc.
And later on sex does become important but not as important as everything else.

They are equally important because if you don't have one without the other the relationship is doomed to fail.
If you have them all...the relationship will be a healthy respectful loving one and the sex will be the greatest!!!
