If I've reformatted my hard drive and installed XP professional (I had XP home before) could that make my graphics card not work? When I use the device manager I can't find it listed.

you video card must be working if you can access or see the device manager

try reinstalling the video card drivers again
changing from xp home to pro shouldn't make any difference to you card every things the same (drivers etc) there's just a few extra features with xp pro

Install the driver for your vid card. Is it Nvidia based? XP Pro has issues with my Nvidia card driver. It runs fine for a few days to maybe a week, then it drops to low resolution for maybe a day. After that it's just a snowy screen. Microsoft claims it's Nvidia's problem but they don't have any different drivers for my card! Good Luck! ;-)=

as a manner to apply the Aero area of homestead windows Vista, you want a pictures card extremely than integrated pictures. Upgrading on a working laptop or laptop is confusing once you have offered it - Laptops are many times restrained to a definite actual area decrease, so soliciting for an improve on a particular kind isn't feasable. My suggestion is that in case you certainly need to apply the Aero area of Vista, you may desire to inspect getting a working laptop or laptop (extra much less costly and enhanced than a working laptop or laptop, merely not portable) or a sparkling laptop.
