When my friend got married her groom gave his groomsman beer mugs with their initials engraved on them. The groom can also buy gifts that suit each of the groomsmen (ie if one is an avid golfer, buy him some golf balls, a sports fan, buy tickets to a sporting event or get an autographed item by his favorite player or team, a cigar smoker you could get a cigar cutter or an engraved lighter, you could even get gift cards to their favorite stores or maybe buy them a pair of nice inexpensive cuff links to wear in the wedding).
You could also search Theknot.com and they have sections where you can look for gifts for groomsmen and bridesmaids.
Good luck and have a wonderful wedding!

It depends on where he knows them and what he knows about them. It would be nice to get something that represented what they have in common. If he can't get that then some type of inexpensive jewelry is nice (if you can afford it). Flasks and money clips are traditional but they aren't really all that nice considering how old school and impersonal they are. Try to give the same amount of thought to this that the two of you are giving to the brides maids gifts. They're both important issues.

A wedding I was maid of honor in, the groom gave his groomsmen cigarette lighters. The ones who smoked, that is. Probably not a popular choice today. The ones who didn't smoke got money clips. The groom gave these gifts to the drivers too.

Really nice dress socks for the wedding.
$10 gift cards to Circuit City.
Small bags of assorted candy.
Mix CD of upbeat music to pump them up before the long day.
Pocket knife to fight off bandits. (link below)
Don't worry about spending a ton of money on engraved gifts that they won't want anyway, and will only end up in the back of a drawer. Get something simple and useful. They agreed to be in the wedding because they support you guys, not for the gifts.

Engraved flasks. Fill em up with schapps or something tasty like that. Helps to take the edge off - especially for the best man.

Go to Things Remembered and get them silver keychains with their names monogramed on them. Here is the link www.thingsremembered.com they are not outrageously expensive, so they are priced for the budget minded bride and groom.
