Contrary to previous replies, you DO have to take the citizenship test for indefinite leave, my husband is taking the test next week.

For Indefinite Stay in the UK you don't need to take the life in the uk test. You only need to do that if you want to apply for british citizenship. If she's doing an ESOL course then she wouldn't need to do the life in the uk test. You can check these things out on the life in the uk website.

You just go down to the Home Office and sort it out. If your wife is still living overseas then she can file the papers at a British Embassy or consulate.
