It really depends on the situation. Most times, guys who have asked me out have travelled in similar circles as myself. So.. we've seen each other a few times and have exchanged a few words - building a rapport of sorts. Then there is a # exchange that usually occurs due to a mutual interest. (There is a band that I think you would like playing at this club near my place. You should come check them out with me.) It's casual - alleviating the awkward moments of asking someone out.

grocery store coffee shop not like a pick up just doin everyday tasks common ground example this guy was deer in spotlights in laundry detergent remove stains from type of suit so i helped him asked me for cofffee best friends library b dalton volunteer jobs even met a few at home depot and lowes classes for different projects i wanted to learn everyday life is full of folks who cross ur path dont stress on THE ONE fill your life with folks who share common interests always meet in public til ur confortable never feel forced into situations SAFETY to u first

well a guy i like i met at a pub, kind of, we barely spoke, but he got my number by asking his friend to get it from me, and he's been texting me ever since, but hasn't actually asked me out yet =(
