actually they are not allowed to refuse you a bank account by law because of your credit history, however they only need to offer you the very basic account which is usually just for paying in money/wages and direct debits and you will only be issued with a speed bank card and nothing else, i was made bankrupt 5 years ago and alot of banks refused me so i went to the CAB and they told me that banks can not do that , try barclays they have been excellent with me,( infact it was barclays bank who was involved with my bankruptcy but they still gave me a basic account after as they also know the law) alliance and leicester is another one who was fine with me. but dont expect to be giving alot from the bank to begin with. and dont go with vanquis their interest is huge .

Try opening a savings account, any bank should do this for you as long as you have the appropriate ID. Then you need to rebuild yor credit rating. You can get a free credit report on the Internet through Experian and that will tell you to whom you owe money and how much. Slowly make arrangements to repay it and then you should be fine. You will get a copy of the credit report in order to update you as you go along. GOOD LUCK XX

I have a solution that may help. It's a prepaid mastercard called accountnow. It has the same features as a regular checking account, only it doesn't require credit approval. Also a feature that separates them from most banks is that you can use their online billpay to pay your monthly bils to build credit. No, I didn't type this wrong. This is REAL. I've supplied the link below to the site. Check it out! You'll be glad that you did. And even though you may not be able to get a checking account, you may still be able to get a savings account.

Any bank should be able to provide with some sort of account, but probably not a debit card.

Apparently the Abbey do a good account, for people is adverse credit history.

Don't give up!!!

it incredibly is unusual because of the fact the priority-loose financial business enterprise account is meant to be attainable to all and sundry. The financial business enterprise can not refuse to open an account notwithstanding in case you have county court judgements. while you're a bankrupt that is greater problematic, yet you will desire to be waiting to get the priority-loose account. style in concern-loose financial business enterprise money owed in a seek engine and look for the single with the final centers like a debit card and notice online. now and returned you're able to desire to pass around those automatons that artwork interior the branches. all of us prefer a debit card at present, so I certainly have indexed the banks that supply a debit card on a concern-loose account. Natwest, Halifax, Yorkshire, Co-op, Abbey, they're all indexed on the information superhighway website. Get your credit document, yet be arranged for errors on it and complacency from the credit reference company. If something is incorrect, or it would not relate to you, ask them to eliminate it ( they gained't because of the fact lenders can't be incorrect- EVER, and you do no longer rely). you could write a footnote to pass on your document, pointing out your element of issues. notice online and then only take your id into branch. in case you have any better issues, touch me.

Why dont you do us all a favour and start up your own line of banks that lets people with a bad credit rating open an account and have an overdraft facility etc and maybe you can cut all ridiculous bank charges whilst your at it. Other than that try going to CAB and ask them to help you out

Try the Post Office Bank - I think they have to offer a basic banking service as it is in their charter.
