I am supposed to get on a Boeing 737 and fly from Indianapolis to LasVegas and have never been on a moving plane in the air before. Tell me about what I will see, feel, hear and everything you know. If we fly over my home area, will I be able to see the familiar landmarks if it is a clear day.

I have flown a few times, and it's pretty cool what you can see. Remember that you're at least a good three times higher than the highest mountain peaks in the country, so what you see is pretty small. I saw that crater in Arizona, and the snow-capped Rockies, and when I flew to Hawaii, I could see the wakes of ships at sea. Sometimes you see other planes fly by below you the other way. If you know of landmarks on your route, you can pick them out, like lakes or rivers. You're above most of the clouds most of the time, but when you descend through clouds it looks like you're landing on cotton, then all the sudden you can't see anything but fog. It's interesting when you break out under the clouds and all the sudden you can see. Unless you have a lot of turbulence, it's smoother than riding in a car. You can hear the engines, but they're not real loud. It's actually quite peaceful on a plane. I think the approach is fun. You get to fly right down over freeways and stuff, and it looks like a miniature model railroad layout. You can feel the plane speed up and slow down, but you have no sensation that you're traveling as fast as you are except when you're taking off or landing, because there's lots of things on the ground that are whizzing by.

I personall have made the trip from O'hare to vegas several times and i can say that the scenerary can be rather wonderful as you fly in. Aside from all the advice about clearing the slight pressure in your ears and staying calm, there are a couple thing you can look for out the window. First of all, dont just be staring out the window the whole time, this might give you a headache, and may irritate the patrons around you ( because of the sunlight). You will likely see more when you fly over the drier air in the more mountainesk regions of the west. Really the only thing interesting is going to be the Vegas lights, but only if you fly in at night. Your time will really serve you best if you sleep.

you will see a lot of sky and couds and at times when low enough you will get to see land. It is very pretty. After take off you should be able to see the area for a while and right before landing you will be able to see as well.

You will hear the engines start and maybe some squeaking when the landing gear is raised after take off or lowered b4 landing.

During take off you may feel your ears get colgged up, like when you go up a mountian and your ears feel strange. It is from the change in altitude. Some people chew gum to make their ears pop, others yawn- but for me I found if I hold my nose-keep my mouth together and just blow the pressure makes them pop.. I tried the gum and the yawn it did not work for me.. you may want to take some gum with you and after take off, if your ears feel clogged then you can try that as well as the other ideas.

You may feel some bumps (turbulence) and the plane will bounce some but it is okay. It does not always happen though.
But if not use to it can be rather alarming so I figured I would say about it.

Enjoy your trip and remember get to the airport early enough to have time to check in and find your way around..

u will see a few landmarks on takeoff, after airplane reaches 30,000 feet all u will see is high altitude clouds and if sky is clear
u will see mountains, big rivers n stuff.
u wont recgonise anything from up ther unless u got powerful binoculars lol.
u mite get stong vibrations cause planes move through all kinds of stable/ unstable air,
u will feel weird as plane raises and floats down thats normal.
if u fly at night u will see a relly cool view of the sky sumtimes u might see meteores shooting across the sky looks better than ground lev below clouds.
and u will soon get bored and fall asleep like others.

enjoy ur flight!

Being on a plane feels pretty much like being on a bus. If you look out window, you might just see clouds, but you can see land if it's clear. I always find it hard to pick out landmarks. Sometime the pilot will announce some really special landmarks. Sometimes there will be turbulence, but it isn't scary. Just think of it as bumps in the road. Enjoy your flight! And bring a snack. Food on flights can really be terrible sometimes, but they will have free soda, juice, water, etc.

Well your going to hear the engine noise and that's about it. You might get that flight attendant asking you what you want to drink...you probably won't hear her but you'll know what she wants. Most airlines cruise at 33-35K feet, so land marks you'll see won't be that obvious. and if you sit over the wing that's pretty much all you'll see (is the wing) I recommend bringing an Ipod or some kind of listening devise to pass the time. have fun... be safe and see ya in Vegas!!

Experience the thrill yourself. You can notice landmarks while you are flying on a low altitude only. If you are so sensitive use earplugs and also inhale / exhale thru mouth to adjust the pressure.

Take a lot of drugs and drink a lot before you get on the plane. That will be the most interesting part of your flight unless you pick a fight with the flight attendant. Also, mention bombs a lot and your Islamic jihadist connections and I can safely say you'll have a memorable flight.
