I agree with DramaGuy. It varies from person to person. In my opinion, arts agencies are important because they like museums and other similar sites provide an individual with knowldege. The arts are subjective, but they sitll are historical because they showcase histoy, such as the Chicago Symphony orchestra playing Mozart or Macbeth being performed at the Chicago Cultural Center.

It is difficult to answer without understanding which types of agencies to which you refer. Are you asking about agents who support talent such as William Morris? If that is the case, the answer is that artists rarely have time to do the intricate networking necessary to line up jobs.
