My advice to you is to go to your GP.
You will find that they will have seen these symptoms hundreds of time before.

Have you any family/close friends who you can talk to?
Try writing any problems down and then work out how you are going to solve them or even ask someone you trust to help.

I would recommend anti-depressants as a last resort because they can give you side-effects which aren't nice (headaches and constipation!!)

Your doctor should give you a blood test just to make sure that there is nothing causing your lethargy.

good luck I have bought the t-shirt and wrote a book when it comes to being depressed and I totally sympathise

Yeah, it does sound like it.
I have suffered on and off for 10 years now, not even 30 yet...
The doctor put me on prozac when I was 17, but it made it worse, so I turned to other things instead........
U need to surround yourselves with the things that make u happy. Favourite music, films, food, people, anything that can lift the spirits.
Unfortunatley, there isnt a cure, you just have to try and make each day a little better than the last. Sometimes tho, it really will feel like there is no point to anything.
You have to try and climb out of the dark hole you fall into, otherwise stress and depression can bring on other illness.
Sorry to bring a bigger downer on this, but I totally know where you are and how it feels. It's ******* awful.
I drink quite a bit, which isnt good, but allows me to relax a couple of nights of week. I don't do it all the time tho.

Good luck and try your best to think positive thoughts at least once a day. I hope you have a good set of friends and family to help you through...try and talk to those close to you. It helps me.

Aww hon, it sucks! It does sound like mild depression, you should go get some advice and see a therapist, it really works wonders, I also would avoid the tablets if you can, but the choice is yours.

I really hope you feel better soon, try to remember it's usually just a chemical imbalance that triggers these things, and they can be worked through. Positive thinking is one of the biggest steps you can take, and you can only take one step at a time.

Good luck mellow xx

I am very sorry you feel like this. Yes, if it has lasted longer than 2 weeks you are depressed. Classic signs are not sleeping, lack of energy and tearfulness. Please get help so you can go back to work and lead a productive life. I do not see the harm in getting an antidepressant to tide you over for a short while, but counselling would help to find out why you feel so bad.

Try to recall since when exactly this lethargy started; in other words what if any unpleasant things or events happened or changed in you life or regular routine.
You might be upset by someone, lost something, not getting result expected for some undertaking you have worked hard to achieve, family discord....... If all that is negative, then I think you ought to see your doctor; knowing something is wrong health in not a bad thing, letting it drag on without treatment is. It might even be something very simple to correct. Wishing you happy days again real soon.

in medical terms, depression is diagnosed when symptoms have lasted for at least two weeks. how long have you been feeling like this for? i know it's going to be difficult, but you should go and see your doctor about this. depression is a common condition - 5% of the population have some form of depression and your gp will be able to ask the relevant questions to make an appropriate diagnosis.

it is important to remember that there are differing degrees of depression. it is nothing to be ashamed about and there are many treatments out there.

it could be possible that this is nothing to worry about, but you should probably go to the doctor just to make sure. your doctor should be able to reassure you and put your mind at rest. and the sooner you see the doctor, the sooner you will feel relieved and reassured.

good luck! :)

Yes. I have been there with all the symptoms , and the doctor will most likely say it's depression. I have a link for you to look at. She may give you some medication and provide other treatment which will help.

clinical depression does not have to involve suicidial thoughts, but does need to persist for more than 2 weeks. If you have felt this way for more than 2 weeks you should definitely consult a doctor. Have you been under a lot of stress recently, had any major life changes, or things like that? That can all trigger these kinds of reactions. But I would reccomend seeing a doctor.

It sounds very much so to me.You really should go to your doctor .Are you worried about anything or have problems at home or at work/college/school.Talk to someone and make them aware of how you are feeling. You cant usually sort it out on your own. There is nothing wrong with not being able to cope without a little bit of help.
Good Luck

It sounds like depression to me!! Go to your doctor - they wont turn you away!! They can put you on anti-depressants which will help relieve your symptoms. If you would like to see someone to talk about your depression ask your doctor to make a referral for you!! However there will be a long waiting list. Maybe you should consider contacting the Samaritans or Sane. These are charities that have people available for you to talk to and can give you advice!!
