Hey, i am 22, and i already had 3 of my 4 wisdom tooth come out with no pain at all. now, my forth tooth is coming out and i am in a lot of pain. It seems though that the tooth is coming out straight. Is it right for me to just do nothing about it and survive the pain for a few days? or is the pain a signal that something is wrong? did you have lots of pain when it did come out right and not have it removed?

My main focus here is not to have it removed.
Thanks!

If you can tolerate the pain for a few days, and want to try and keep your wisdom tooth, I would suggest doing the following. Go to your local pharmacy or drug store and see if you can find a small syringe to use for irrigation. If you can't find a simple syringe, you might try to find a small "turkey baster". You then will need to mix up a 50/50 mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide. Load the liquid into the syringe and gently try to push the liquid around and possibly under the flap of gum tissue that should be present. Try not to swallow the liquid, but it won't hurt you if you do swallow a little amount. By irrigating the site, you are removing any debris that might have built up in the area and caused the tissue to become swollen and irritated. Since your other 3 wisdom teeth have erupted, there is a good chance that the opposing tooth is hitting the swollen area and causing even more irritation. If you can tolerate Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil), take up to 800mg (4 regular 200mg pills at once) every 6 hours to help with the pain and swelling. If after 3-4 days your condition has not improved, I would suggest visiting your dentist. It's not that wisdom teeth must be removed, but it is usually a good idea because of the difficulty in properly cleaning and flossing the area around the wisdom teeth. If you have no problem reaching that area effectively, then you should be able to keep your wisdom teeth for many years.

I had SO much pain with my wisdom teeth... and i had an extra tooth way up in my jaw growing.. all of my wisdom teeth were under my molars.. my mouth was way to small for them so they had to be cut out.. just guessing that if 3 of your other ones came in fine and you have enough room that the 4th will come in fine too..my advice is that even if the pain subsides i would go to the dentist to make sure that everything is ok . 1 tooth growing in and not enough room can make your other teeth crooked .. so go have it checked out , oh and i got really bad headaches with mine too

Under normal circumstances, wisdom teeth will grow in properly and not give you any problems. Unfortunately, it's not always normal. Give it a few days, aspirin or whatever pain reliever suits you will help. If it still hurts, give your favorite dentist a visit. He or she will advise you from there. Some people keep there wisdom teeth a long time. I've only had two removed. One got chipped and exposed the nerve, the other grew in impacted. Both caused excruciating pain, but the pain from removal wasn't too bad.

If you are absolutely sure it's coming out straight, then you wouldn't need it removed. But if it's even the slight bit impacted, you might not even notice by looking or feeling, but you will notice the pain!!! Give it a couple days and then go to your dentist for a consult. This won't cost much if you're worried about that, and sometimes they do it free if it's your first time there. He'll be able to tell you if it's straight or not. And voice your concern about not wanting to get it out unless it's absolutely necessary.

I had all four out, and I don't feel any stupider!!! And I got them out before they became a painful problem, the x-rays showed them starting to come up at 20, and coming in at an angle, so I got them out before there was much pain. Its really not that big a deal to get them out.

Well, if they're coming in fine and there's room in the jaw for them, you'll probably be able to keep them. Is the pain a nagging sensation, like you just want to chew on something? It could just be the sensation of the new tooth breaking the surface. Either way, you should go to the dentist. Even if it feels like it's straight, only X-rays will tell if you can keep it.

Mine caused me lots of pain even a couple days ago I found out I had an infection from it coming through the skin...however 2 dentists told me not to pull them as they are ok and wisdom teeth always give some problems even when they dont need to be pulled - if they arent causing problems for your other teeth I wouldnt worry about it. If you want something that will help get those fish candies you know the white and red ones - sucking on the white ones will help since they contain clove oil or if you dont know wtf Im talking about get some cloves and chew or clove oil and apply with a Q-Tip that will numb out most of the pain without causing you to drool

Pain might be a sign of a cavity or an infection. My husband put off getting his last wisdom tooth pulled out and it caused him more pain in the long run. Not to mention he had to take an anti-biotic to get rit of the infection. Good luck...I know tooth pain really sucks!

I had no pain when my wisdom teeth came out. I did have 3 pulled because some did come out sideways and one under the gum. I still have one left and no problems with it. What you may be experiencing is a abcess. Only an x-ray can determine that and also your dentist. Do not delay.

I had three come in straight and one come in with not enough room for it and crooked. The fourth one I had to go to the dentist and as far as I can remember it had to be cut out ...It is good to keep them if you can, but sometimes there is no choice if no room in the jaw for it...
