Social anxiety can cause these feelings, which can also lead to severe depression,
http://www.socialanxietyinstitute.org/ds...

if not you could be suffering from Generalized Anxiety
Disorder..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/general_anx...

There is hope; I've been there, and still am there, it is a long, hard struggle. I recommend
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cognitive_b... worked best for me, with mild anti-anxiety meds. I suffered from social anxiety for over 15 years. I've tried individual therapy, and group therapy and studied psychology for 10 years, as a profession, but also with the hope to cure myself.

Depending on your comfort level, you could go to a psychologist that practices CBT and specializes in anxiety disorders, seek a group therapy, or create one. Usually those that do attend the group therapy are a bit more high functioning because as you know, it can be difficult to speak in a group.

Another idea is to see if there are any local research studies being conducted that you could participate in.

The program that finally worked the best for me is this one: http://www.socialanxiety.us/findinghelp.... and I was lucky enough to have a structured behavioral group to go along with it. Sometimes the people that actually attend this program come back home and form groups.

I recommend a mild anti-anxiety med in addition to CBT therapy.

Any questions, let me know ... I can't tell you how much this has improved my life!

Hopefully these tips will help you overcome your anxiety.
1. Ask yourself, 'what am i avoiding?' It's important to identify what it is exactly you get anxious about and why you are avoiding it.
2. Set up a hierarchy of fear. Identify all situations on a scale of 1-10 of how anxious they make you. It's important to write down your predictions as when it comes to the actual situation, you will probably find out you wont be as anxious as you expected.
3. Identify safety barriers and eliminate them. It's important to locate what makes you anxious and come out of your comfort zone. This is the only way you can face your anxiety and overcome it.
4. Challenge anxious thoughts. Instead of thinking how badly the situation could go, just think of how well it is going to go and put yourself in a positive frame of mind.
5. Finally, practice what makes you anxious. It's important to face these situations head on rather than avoid them. If you practice in a safe environment first, you will feel a lot more confident executing them in a real life situation.

The only thing that can help you with this is medication for social anxiety. I have the same problem at times if I am thinking about it, I suffer from panic/anxiety disorder and take medication for it, however, when I start to feel anxious around people in a crowd etc. or even at the store when it is loud like Wal-mart I tell myself everything is ok nothing is happening to me no one is starring at me I am fine. Try talking yourself out of it, your not hurt and no one is going to hurt you either, but definatley go see our physician he can prescribe what is best for you. Promise!

Take a deep breath and remember that you are the best. If someone doesn't like you it is not necessarily your fault. And not everyone has to like you. The friends you have probably count a lot to you. So remember that if you dson't like someone it is ok. Just be nice and smile through it.
