Domestic violence is not viwed lightly by any of the military branches. You may think your reasons were justified, but the military sees it as you cannot control yourself or your actions under stressful situations. The military does have many stressful situations and if you go off and hit somebody even if you think it is deserved you don't belong in the military. You may be able to get a waiver for the inciident, but you will need to go to MEPS to find out if you can get a waiver for a chart C offense.

the british army is not full of wife beaters!
the person who responded in this way needs to learn what it is to be a real man!!!
My husband is a soldier and has never harmed a hair on my head.
I think they accept you with some minor offences but i dont know what classifys as a minor offence. Ask at your local careers office. And good luck sounds from your other post that you have had a hard time.

Talk to the recruiters - they do a background check on everyone before they process them in, so it's really up to that recruiting office, they do have plenty waivers for people, but just because of what you did, be prepared to face the consequences, because nothing's ever out of your control, especially when you make the decision to put your own hands on someone else.

It kind of depends...I read your later post explaining what happened...I think you were justified in your anger but took the wrong action. I'm not entirely sure how they deal with that, especially if you only have one conviction. How was it classified? You'd have to go talk to a recruiter and find out unless there is a recruiter on here who can help...

From what I have heard and talked to the Army about (not sure about the Navy) is that they just changed all the requirements. They don't accept anyone with a felony on their record. It used to be that you could get a waiver, but not after the new year started, unless you have previously gotten one.

It seems to me that the persons who anwered that this question and named him as a wife beater han't read properly the reason that caused this domestic Voilence. His ex had a baby by another man and told him it was his child. He was at the birth of a baby and he wasn't the father. I think in those circumstances any of you would have given her a slap if it happened to you.

A wife beater. You are perfect material for the British Army, they'll post you to some country that you don't own or have any business in, and you can beat the tar out of the local women, and get paid for it. Just like your Granddaddy did all over the world.. and if there is a God, maybe you'll get your just desserts. If you were a man, you would apologise to your wife, and stay far away from those marine thugs.
