I can only ease your thoughts by telling you that he is in the right place and is getting treatment for a serious condition. Many people have had this condition without knowing about it and it kills them if it ruptures. Given that your Dad is in hospital and is getting treatment means he is on the right right road to recovery, and will not suffer the possibility of rupture whilst walking down the street. Hope this helps, good luck to your dad.

You are bound to be a bit worried but as TSM 908 said, your Dad is in the right place, correctly diagnosed and probably having an aortic graft which should fix the problem . All you have to do is keep his spirits up, encourage him to remain cheerful and be positive. I had a carotid aneurysm ( in the brain) 40 + years ago and I am fine.

No one can make you feel more at ease dear. This is something that you're going to just have to put your faith in the Dr's skills, your dad, and whatever God you may worship. Just have hope. That's really all you can do. Not much else is going to ease that worry, it will be there until your dad gets out of surgery.

I'm a nurse, but that didn't stop me worrying, when my dad had a cardio version two weeks ago!

It's natural to worry about someone having surgery - especially when it's someone you love.

Try and do something that will distract you a little. Have you spoken to the nurses, because they will help put your mind at ease.

I would also suggest you visit your dad as soon as you are allowed to see him - that will help you too.

Take care.

I'm not a medical expert, but I know one thing. Both of you have to remain happy. Happiness plays a big BIG role in healing the body. Best wishes, friendly teenager.
