I LOVE Mayonnaise and yes, I know it is one of the Mother Sauces, developed in France.

I LOVE mayonnaise, and no, I didn't know it was invented in France. I know my husband told me ages ago that an old roommate of his (who was French) used to dip his French fries in mayo instead of ketchup. Now it's all making sense. :)

Miracle Whip, however, is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. How anyone can eat that is beyond me.

I might've guessed that mayonnaise was French from the spelling... I still prefer Miracle Whip, though.
It's worth noting that brand-name mayo is a lot less hazardous now than it was 10-15 years ago. You don't have to worry quite so much about keeping it cool. (Please be safe with your food handling and keep potentially hazardous foods below 42 F!)

Yes to both. I believe Jack Sparrow said it in the deleted scens in Curse of the Black Pearl... ;)

The French always win at inventing sauces. (Although Mayo is a bit thick to really be considered a sauce, I think...)

I prefer Miracle Whip myself, but I am not sure if it is a French invention or not. It sure is fattening though, so perhaps that makes it an American invention since fatty foods is our specialty.

No, I don't like mayonnaise. It's fatty content and foul odor/taste repel me. But I had no idea it was French in origin.
