If you are experiencing muscle pain that you feel is soley due to low to no carbohydrates you need to absolutely make sure that you are getting potassium. Tomato juice like V8 is a real good source, but watch out for too much salt. A low carb diet does not exclude certain vegetables like tomatos. Your nerve cells in your body absolutely require potassium as well as salt. They are called sodium potassium pumps for a reason. Make sure you get your potassium on this diet. It is very necessary for your health and musle pain is not good. Are you taking any medications?

1. Keep the soda out of your diet. It is unnecessary calories, sugar, caffeine, artificial sweeteners (depending on the drink). Just drink water, add a little lemon juice, and you have yourself a delicious treat.
2. If you are working out, or are relatively active, I wouldn't recommend minimal carbs. You should be eating complex carbohydrates, as they are one of the best energy sources for your muscle. These include: bread, grains, pasta, rice, cereal, potatoes, and beans. Stick to whole wheat, unrefined options and you will be doing your body good. Also, vegetables contain carbs that are incredibly good for you, especially leafy green vegetables such as spinach, lettuce, etc. Flax seeds, celery, and barley (just to name a few) contain fiber, which is non starch polysaccharide, or dietery fiber, another form of carbohydrate.
3. Just remember to eat lots of salads with mixed veggies, nuts, oats, whole wheat etc. Fruits are good too. A healthy diet is a balanced diet, not a diet that excludes a main food group.
