Yes they can. When I was on 2 years probation at age 16,
I had to do a drug test every 6 months.

I thought drug tests were one of their more common functions. Your probation officer has more authority over you (their probationer) than the police do. A probation officer can also search your place whenever they want, check it's probably a term of your probation. They also do spot checks in bars to make sure none of their probationers are in there drinking (also a term of probation).

I worked for probation and yes they can give you drug tests. Although they hate doing it!

No, only a doctor can give you a drug test, and there must be good grounds for asking for one. You can refuse unless it is ordered by the police, and they must have good reason as well.

yes they can,they are members of the court.if you get a positive result you have the right to have the sample sent to a lab to be retested but you have to pay for it to be done.
