I do. the question should be why whouldn't anyone believe the evidence.

In science, unlike in common usage, a successful “theory” is an overarching explanation that accounts for all known facts, hypotheses, and observations.

It is a fact, supported by millions of observations over at least 150 years that life has evolved on this planet. This fact of evolution did not have a scientifically satisfactory overarching explanation—a theory—until Charles Darwin developed his complex ideas. His explanation rapidly convinced the scientific minds of his own age and of every generation since then.

No scientifically supported theory of why life on this planet evolved rivals basic Darwinian theory. If there was a legitimate alternative, scientists would go to great lengths to win prestige by testing and developing the alternative.

Evolution is supported by mountainous evidence from convergent fields of inquiry, such as comparative morphology, systematics, population genetics, developmental biology, immunology, ecology, biogeography, paleontology, etc., with the ultimate forensic proof provided by recent research in molecular genetics.

Evolution has thus become the theoretical paradigm for the field of biology. The only people who do not believe in evolution today are those who do not understand the theory (saying things like "why are there still monkeys") or who lack a good education about modern biological sciences.

I worry about people who don't believe in evolution. Read the last paragraph of 'The Origin of Species' (with an open mind) and you'll see that Darwin doesn't see evolution as being in conflict with believing in a supreme being. Darwin himself was a religious man and saw the wonders of evolution as a gift from God. Evolution has been taught in England for years without detracting from religious beliefs - it seems that in the US, religious groups are far less secure in their beliefs and cannot even consider that the 7 days of creation could be an allegory. No - it has to be literal!! Sad.

I regard Evolution in much as how I regard the Theory of Human Sexual Reproduction. It is based on facts. People have babies after having sex. There is a theory that explains why people have babies after having sex. And there are a few loony people holding absolutely ridiculous opposing beliefs such as the idea babies are brought by storks.

In the case of evolution, there are observed facts. Evolution happens ( Biological populations change over time ) . There is a theory that explains why evolution happens ( Natural Selection operating on genetic variance ) And there are the loony creationists who refuse to accept reality.

Evolution is a an ongoing process. It is real in the sense that all organisms change and adapt to their environment. It is more difficult to prove that an organism totally changes from one thing to another....thus where the debate comes in.

My only problem with the discussion on here is the lack of maturity of the respondents. When you put another down it kills any true learning....of course I could take my turn and say those responses are from those who have yet to evolve into a higher form but only THINK they have....it is a dangerous thing to think that ones knowledge alone is enough

When evolution is finally proven to be true to the point that evolution has no gaps in its theory or anything, I will burn down a tree, dance on the ashes wearing some boots and I shall dance on the grave of every Christian in celebration for the defeat of creation. OK, maybe not every Christian. Every fundie Christian. That'll narrow down the amount of people I have to cover. Maybe not, but still.

Evolution is not a faith, evolution is a scientific model of the history of life on earth. And so far it is the one model which is best based on evidence and conclusions.

I don't "believe" in evolution any more than I "believe" in photosynthesis; but I am knowledgeable about both natural processes.

Anyone with a brain, so that excludes ALL the people in religions!

If you DON'T evolve, you're DIED, just like ALL the un-proven religious beliefs and the ignorant believers - they ARE brain-dead and brain-washed from the un-proven beliefs.

Here's the Solution:

Create a private, personal, direct, divine Relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.

Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!

Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!

"religion is Spiritual fraud"; "religion is the Worse invention of humanity" - Jesus Christ, Buddha and Me.

You don't have to "believe" in evolution. It is a fact and exists whether you want it to or not.
