Who was the person that thought of naming French Fries 'Freedom Fries'? Do you say it? I don't. I think it's stupid just like everyone else I know. It's just another reason why to other countries ours is a laughing stock. I mean come o n .

I don't say it, but living in a conservative state, I do hear it quite a bit. Not many restaurants, other than Toby Keith's Bar & Grill put that specific name on the menu.

I agree it is kinda of an iffy thing to do, but some people truly believe that the French are nothing but cowards. While I do believe they are hesitant to enter any conflict, renaming French Fries is not an answer to a diplomacy problem.

I don't remember the circumstances but I do remember something a couple years ago about renaming French fries as Freedom fries. Probably some knee jerk reaction by the government to something France did or said that didn't set well with Washington. And yeah! it is dumb. I have called them french fries all my life and will continue to do so.

Are they still saying that where you are? Not around here.

Who named them French fries for that matter? Why not just "skinny fried potatoes"?

The stupid government thought that up. It shows how out of touch they are with regular American folks. I never say it and neither does anyone I know. In fact I forgot all about it.
