I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.
It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.
Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

The first thing is to accept how you look and concentrate on your work. It is more important than how you look.
Secondly, accept that weight that goes fast, comes back even faster.
but there are some tricks. Go out and buy some good underwear - Rigby and Peller or figleaves do control underwear that can improve your shape until you lose the weight.
Secondly, go for a universal body wrap and lose inches, it can last for weeks and the more you have, the more you lose.
Thirdly, aim to lose about 5 lbs in the first week, because that usuall happens, then aim for 1 to 2 lbs in the weeks that follow.
Make sure you hair and make-up is fantastic and wear nice shoes and accessories. Make sure you always smell nice and make the best of what you have, the rest will follow.
Make sure you have a pretty cardigan you can wear over the top, but draw the attention to your good features and work on makming the rest good too.
Walking is the fastest way to lose weight and change shape at the same time. Is it possible to walk home from work so that you can wear trainers andif you get up a sweat you can have a shower at home. Maybe get off the train a stop early or cycle into work.
Remember as long as you are very caring, everyone will look at you as a caring person and not an overweight one.
Good luck in your new job and make sure you have fruit to snack on in the day and drinks as much water as you can manage!

Hi,
Please dont fad diet, it will soon pile back on, and you will be left tired and grouchy, not really a great start to a new job!
There is a lady on my schoolrun who is about an 18, she hasa nurses uniform that she has adjusted to suit her, she's 'tailored' in the waist a little to make it more fem, and she wears a cardigan over the top. She looks really stunning, well turned out.
Maybe aim to be a size 16 at the end of your probation period, then a 14 after 3 months, so you can lose weight as you learn / settle into your job instead of being tired and grouchy!!
Good luck with your new job and congratulations!!

Do not do any fad diet. Do not diet. DO NOT EAT 900 CALORIES OR LESS LIKE THAT PERSON ABOVE IS SAYING.
All are dangerous. All are temporary. And all do not work. The human body is genetically incapable of dieting. If you drastically reduce/cut out what you are eating, you WILL lose weight. But this will definately screw up your metabolism to the extent that any fatty/calorific food is instantly stored as FAT because you body will think it is being starved (which it practically is).
SO any quick losses will turn into quick gains and the chances are within 4 weeks, you will be heavier than when you started. For this very reason, diets do not work and they should never be attempted. If you do not beleive me, all i will ask is this: If diets or a single diet really worked, why do they come up with a new one every year? Its not to sell lame-as5 magazines to niave, desperate women by any chance is it??
If you are not happy with your size, why have you not done anything about it up until now?
To safely and consistently lose weight, you need a LIFESTYLE change, not a diet one. By this, i mean you need to exercise regularly and consistently (doing cardiovascualr AND weight training, which will keep you toned and skyrocket your metabolism = more calories burnt) and eat more healthy foods. So eat wholemeal foods, lean meats, fresh fruit & veg and healthy dairy products.
Cut out crisps, chocolate and fast food. Cut out anything which is fried, breaded, battered etc.
Instead, opt for things which are boiled, steamed, grilled, etc.
ALSO note there is NO quick fix to losing weight. You cant roll the dice with the devil and expect a refund. That is pathetic, niave and arrogant. Healthy weight loss is around 1 pound a week. If there are 14 pounds in a stone, you do the math... And if there are 3500 calories in one pound (454g) of body fat, then clearly it will take time. As a woman, you will require around 2000 calories a day to sustain your body. You should reduce this by 500 calories MAX and then go down the gym around 3-5 times a week, making sure you burn off AT LEAST 500-750 calories.
If you are planning on just walking on the treadmill or going for a leisurely bike ride, you can forget about good weight loss; in other words, its as good as doing nothing. You should break yourself in slowly, but DO try and push yourself and you will notice the rewards very quickly...
If you are upset at the time it will take to lose the pounds, perhaps you should start thinking twice about picking up that burger, buying that chocolate bar or cramming those crisps into your mouth.

you could go on a rigourous water or juice fast? these are good for losing weight and cleansing the body or toxins and have been used by religions for years. owever i would advise you to tell someone you are doiung it and be sensible about it. a uice fast you can usually keep up for no more than a month however i wouldnt advise doing a water fast for more than 2/3 days.you will lose about 6/7 lbs in the first few days tho but thats all water your losing.... good luck!!! the other would just be excersise loooaaddss and eat steamed chicken and veg for a week- always works x

Stop worrying, your patient's may like it a bit revealing ;)
Seriously though, nothing you can do quickly except make sure your uniform fits properly. And if you did lose a lot of weight quickly, you would not feel strong enough to work as a carer! Be happy in who you are, and if you still want to lose a few pounds, you have to do it the slow way if you want to stay healthy.

You haven't got a prayer unless you starve yourself.
So many larger people can't work this one out and it's so simple. It really is about what you put in your mouth. You must eat a sensible, balanced diet, cut out the fried, high fat, high sugar crap (white bread, chocolate, crisps, takeaways) and reduce your portion size. And you need to do that forever, not just for a couple of weeks. That's the only way to become slim and stay slim.

Why don't you be happy with how you are now, they gave you the job so they obviously think you are OK, if you want to diet then do it slowly, its the healthiest option.
I bet you are a fit size 18 anyway. good luck in your new job x

It is never safe to lose weight fast. If you are serious about losing weight you need to commit to it and lose it gradually. Otherwise, cut your calories to 900 a day for three days to lose 5 lbs.
