It does depend on how many people and it also depends on how much money you have. My girlfriend planned her wedding in like 4 months and it was big..... but it cost her about 50,000....... big surprised the hotel that charged $30000 for a wedding for 200 people had a opening.
Also where do you want to get married?? A hall, your yard?? Makes a huge difference in time and price.

Hi -
First - Congratultions!
Second, I am dealing with this right now. I did not really start planning my April 28, 2007 wedding until this year. My one big (huge - lol) mistake was selecting the date before I selected the place. Once the place was finalized, everything else has been falling into place quite nicely. I'm expecting about 125 people in Los Angeles and am on a budget, but still have been able to get pretty much everything that was important to me.
Bottom line - if you find an acceptable place within your budget, you have more than enough time. However, the luxury of time allows you so many more options as you are selecting vendors.
Please feel free to email me if you have more questions.

You absolutely have enough time to plan your wedding. I planned my wedding within 5 1/2 months and although it was stressful, I got it done. Most people that I know take over a year to plan, some people even longer. At the same time I know quite a few people who have put together wonderful weddings within 4 months. I find that the more time you have, the more time you'll spend contemplating things that aren't necessarily productive. For example, you could try on 60 dresses instead of 15. Or you could interview 10 photographers instead of 5. But sometimes, 5 is enough!
Personally the wedding planning process is very arduous and stressful. I wouldn't have wanted to prolong the process.
The first things to conquer are:
1. general guest list so that you know numbers
2. banquet hall/church
3. dress (sometimes they do take a while to order unless you get one off the rack...then you get to have it immediately- and it's cheaper)

You can still plan a wedding in that amount of time. The important thing to begin with is if you want to rent a hall and book a place to have the wedding, you should start calling around now and get them booked. DJ and food, too. If you get the major stuff booked, all the other details you can get into place rather quickly.
Sandals has great destination weddings, by the way, and then you wouldn't have to plan anything. OK, maybe a reception/party for the family to celebrate after you get back.

I would post pone it awhile. Sometimes it takes 6 months just to order your dress. I have been planning my wedding for a year and a half and still feel like im running out of time. I mean if you have the money to do it right away then go for it. But you should not get stressed about trying to plan it in 5 months, enjoy your engagement, throw an engagment party, then pick a date where you have enough time to organize and plan your wedding. It is a time in both your lives you should enjoy. I personally would wait so you dont have to deal with the pressure and stress of trying to get everything done. Good Luck! Congratulations!

This really depends on the size of the wedding you are planning and how specific your needs are regarding wedding professionals. 6 months is plenty of time to plan a wedding, however you may find that many of the pros you want have already been booked. If having the perfect wedding is the most important thing to you, find your must have wedding location and pros and see if they are available. If not, push the date back to ease the time constraint. On the other hand, if you can be flexable with the location and pros for your wedding, then you certainly have time to put it together. My biggest piece of advice, assuming this is in your budget, is to hire a wedding planner. They will be able to help find great pros in short time spans and put it all together for you without the headaches. I think you could pull it off, as long as you don't get your heart set on a certain location for the wedding or reception. Those places book-sometimes a year in advance. I would sit down this week and try to book both of those places. Once you've got that done, you can pull everything else off based on that, but you do need to get moving! Have fun!

I managed to pull off my wedding in a matter of 3 months! So yes, I think you have plenty of time to plan a wedding; but I wouldn't wait too much longer!

It is entirely possible depending on the size and opulence of the occasion. A simple wedding can take as little as 2 weeks to plan, a HUGE wedding can take years
