That is very surprising. Are you from a foreign country where they think that a girl must marry young otherwise she is considered an old maid? Don't let your parents force you into getting married young. Finish your studies, go on to college, become a professional, and by that time you will be able to make a mature decision on what type of men you like and if you want to marry in your 20's or wait and pursue a career. They should not control that aspect of your life.

Are you Indian and is it arranged marriage? If so, then you can try two things. 1. discuss it with your parents that you promise you will have an arranged marriage (or they pick suitors for you), but at a later age. Or 2. accept it since it is culture, but tell your parents that you will get married at 19 as they want you to, but you will pick and introduce the prospects to your parents. I've had many friends in this situation.

Well are you planningon getting married now and they want you to wait? or are you not interested in getting married and they are pushing you? Either way I would say that you should get married when you are ready and not when someone else is ready.

Wow! That's young! I would strongly discourage my child from getting married at that age! You do what you want-it's a lifetime committment you're talking about.

i would just tell them you do not want to get married...and i would not marry until i was 100 percent sure that i loved this man and it is something you want to do.....they do not have to love and care for this man........and it is your life, live it the best you can and find happiness for yourself............gee i do not know why any parent would want to make their child or teenager get married when she did not want to.......your life and your future is at stake here..........

Maybe they just want to see you happy and in their minds because of what they've grown to believe, marriage is the key to your happiness. Just ignore it right now---they also could just be joking around.
