Actually witches kind of rode brooms, Yea now it's for and cleansing cleaning and banishing.
But "Back in the day" Angelo Saxton witches did so by hopping around in the feilds bristles up to encourage the crops to grow as high as the bristles. But in those days women didn't wear pants. I'm betting this question is a joke (like we didn't all know ; P right) So my answer to your question is this. Imagine a nice new smooth handled freshly polished witches broom without seat belts as is the fashion laitly... just right for Oestera (which is to day B.B. all you heatens out there!!!)... now imagine wind speads pushing 50 mps in the lower atmosphere. Okay got that in mind? Now imagine a suction cup... hehehe

Witches have never once used brooms to fly through the air, as television and movies make it seem, they have been used primarily as a source to sweep out the negative fortunes in their lives and bring in good luck, much like Feng Shui is today.

I wonder why most people jumpt to conclusions about Witchcraft without ever bothering to read any information at all...

Oh... well the answer is simple. The witch also likes to moon the villagers while she flies through the sky. After all, who doesn't like to moon people? Ha Ha! ^_^

broom STICKS ARE PRETTY SLICK
sometimes you need to just suck it in and hope you can hang on
the other is to do with friction burns
and lubri-sa-cation
but generally wiches are just being comfortable by making others uncomfortable
