It's just the top 12 in driver points this year. By adding the 2 extra spots they dropped the whole within 400 points of the leader deal.
Heavy Meatal: You are right. All 12 drivers making the chase will have their points set at 5,000, with 10 additional points added for each win during the "regular" season. Therefore the initial chase points and seeding will be based on wins NOT the points they had entering the chase.
