It is illegal and irresponsible. You might even try gently saying something to her, maybe she is to unmindful to think anything about it. I saw this happen in a parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia with a ten day old baby in a Lincoln Navigator. The mother was absent for 30+ minutes. We called the police, because who knows maybe someone abducted the mother. When the police arrived the mother still had not returned, they sent one policeman into the stores nearby to look for her and the firefighters were about to break the car window to get the baby out, when they located the mother three stores down at a stationary store. She said she lost track of time, and didn't think it was a problem. The baby was only ten days old mind you. Needless to say, she got arrested, taken to jail, and charged with a felony. Her sister had to be called to come and take the baby home, because she was too embarrassed to call her husband. The police officers said they take this matter very seriously and that it enrages them to see this occur so often. The moral of the story is absolutely never leave your child unattended in a vehicle, it is not worth the consequences that could occur to them or you.

Contact the school first, its not hard to take a 2 year old in to a school and to pick up another child. If the school does nothing the yes contact the police. She needs a serious wake up call! She would be very upset if something (god forbid) happened to the child.
Hope it all works out for ya!

No matter what state you live in it is considered neglect if you leave a young child in a car unattended. The child could get abducted, could accidentally start the car or even get the door open and wander off. It is simply not something that she should be doing even if it's inconvenient for her to have to bring her daughter in to go get her other daughter. I have five kids and I never leave them in a car unattended...

I think that you should call the police the next time you see this happen. Stay next to the vehicle and wait for them to get there. No matter what the law is, this isn't right!! No one should leave a child unattended in a vehicle!! For any reason!! I even take my kids in with me to pay for gas at a gas station. I couldn't live with myself if something happened to them because I wanted the convenience of just "running in for a minute". In her case, it is considered child endangerment and neglect. Get involved, it could save the child's life!!

Call the law the next time you see this, tell them there is a baby left unattended in a car. You do not have to tell the law who you are. Describe everything down to a "T" to the cops and when they get there she will be going to jail for child neglect. It doesn't matter what state your in , it is wrong and against the law to do what she is doing.

That is not allowed...call the police next time you see it...or report ahead of time so the police can be there when it happens....that mom would be the first one on TV crying when her kids taken saying I don't know how this happened...some people shouldn't have kids!

This is against the law. Also very, VERY stupid. I would contact the school, inform them that this woman is doing this. But if she continues, I'd call police.

mention it to the preschool personnel ; if something happens then it will be too late for you to act both for her sake and her daughter; better for you to say something than she goes to jail or the child is injured etc; we all have hard choices to make but this one is a no brainer; you need to act by telling personnel or saying something yourself to her, which ever is easier for you but something needs to be said to protect the life of someone who can't protect them self
