my 2 year old sister is really smart, she can already count to ten, she knows her name and adress, and shes an amazing drawer. what i think is really strange is that she can draw perfect faces, the eyes, nose, ears, and mouth are all in the right place, and they are all the right size and shape. is this normal for a 2 year old? or do you think shes gifted in some way?

She may be gifted, or just smart on the smarter side of the spectrum. Counting and her address (by 18mos kids should know their names first, last) are memorization skills and she has probably heard them hundreds of times. Drawing faces is a bit advanced but developmental charts that indicate the norm vary widely. You can help her learn by playing games with her, practice counting blocks etc, not just saying the numbers like a song. If she is good at memorization, sing the ABCs with her everyday. Children her age are wired to remember, not necessarily understand, but remember. Fill her head with stuff, and it will help her later.

Being able to draw that well at such a young age is definitely a sign of giftedness. My oldest daughter was that way and she is now is every advanced art class her school offers and has won several art contests. She is incredibly intelligent but, over the years has lost the drive. Experts usually won't test a child until they are about 5 years old but keep an eye on her and encourage her.

That is so amazing! My daughter began showing signs of being 'advanced' at that age too, and your child is the same way. What the bottom line is good parenting. When you expose your child to education and learning early they will pick up on it quickly. Just keep up the good work and keep up the encouragement. Trust me, she's going to need it because in Kindergarten children are required to count to 100 and read now...it's not like when we were growing up and all we did was color. Congrats!

She is probably very smart and you say she is two. Almost three or just two. Either way, she seems ahead of the pack at that age.

She sounds like a very smart and talented little girl. There are few 2 year olds who can accomplish such tasks. I hope your parents help her develop her skills. :-)
