Offhand, I would say that you have a short between the headsets.... LCDs (especially my Sony Bravia) are drop-dead gorgeous. I don't know which LCDs you're looking at, but all the ones I've seen are great. In fact, I saw the following at Costco and was very impressed....
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11174195&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&N=4001382&Mo=17&pos=1&No=1&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=3316&Ns=P_Price%7C1%7C%7CP_SignDesc1&Sp=C&ec=&topnav=

It takes a lot to impress me, too. I've seen literally thousands of TVs... many of them HD units. Rarely, have I seen anything that approaches the picture quality of a Sony Bravia.

Trust me, a good quality HD LCD has a *much* better picture than a CRT. I work for an electrical retailer, and we have dozens of people who walk into the shop wanting a CRT, then see the LCDs and change their mind. We only stock two CRT models now, because there's just no demand for them.

It just hasn't been run-in properly - recommend you put it as low contrast as you can bear for 100 hours or so, then go back to normal settings and you'll see a difference. LCD quality is normally great compared to any CRT - just check out some of the forums.

They take less power to run, they take up less room and whether or not they have a better or worse picture is mostly opinion. Higher quality ones have a better picture in my opinion.
