All human history is filled with monuments to a god or gods of some nature, from pyramids to temples and sacrificial alters, all in variations of belief in some mysterious unseen power of nature and the universe. Of some spirit of the universe, of a deity called God by some, Allah by others and other names, Great Spirit, Ra, Jehovah, Osiris, etc. Even in disagreement, which they do with wars and bloodshed over them, all faiths share an expectation after death of a world or existence "beyond" where they meet some awakening and enlightenment in joining the ultimate spirit of existence. Even agnostics, atheists and skeptics believe in something, perhaps less defined in recognition of the limits of human knowledge and understandings, which often stir greater philosophical and spiritual yearnings to study, contemplate, discover deeper thoughts and find clues to the unknown.
I'm just a journalist, a political reporter who dabbles in matters of the spirit. My sources: Bible, Qur'an, Egyptian Book of the Dead and other sources, Dead Sea Scrolls, The God Code, The Mayan Prophecies, The Jesus Papers, Forged, Zeitgeist, The Law of Attraction, Cracking the Bible Code, various authors on Quantum Mechanics and Theoretical Physics, Astronomy, Astrology and Spirituality. The more I read, the more I realize the limitless boundaries of existence that we'll never know, yet demand our desire and willingness to continue to explore and learn all that we can. That's the adventure of it. And, yes, I have my thoughts and perceptions about them, and they are not locked into any single "religion." And continuously open to change.

Yes,I think the common goals are to love each other as fellow human beings and be the very best person that we can be while on this earth. To "do unto others,as you would have them do unto you". I think this is the common goal for all religions.

The spiritual teachings and laws of all the major religions are identical as they all come from one Source, the one true God. These spiritual laws have been in place since the beginning which has no beginning and will continue to the end which has no end.
'Tis the social laws that change from one religious age to another. Initially, these new social laws bring an upheaval to the existing system, but in retrospect, it becomes clear that these new laws are blessings from God to assist humanity to lift civilization to greater heights than the previous religious age.

Peace and love are always favourites, but if it comes down to the wire, it's about fulfilling people's needs.
Giving them stability. Giving them a sense of belonging. People are gregarious, social animals. They generally dislike being, or feeling alone. Give them companionship, and they draw from that dignity, strength.
People are funny, like that.

Most religions preach Love as a way to get to God; it is how they go about it that differs.
However, religions hardly agree on anything except these two laws, as discovered by renowned scholar Richard Maybury:
a) DO ALL YOU HAVE AGREED TO DO, and
b) DO NOT ENCROACH ON OTHER PERSONS OR THEIR PROPERTY.

Peace. Most religions try to teach us to get along with everyone else. Unfortunately that message can get lost in the dogma of day to day life.

No. There is only one true religion. There are sincere people in other religions, but only one leads to God and eternal life. He's guiding His true people out of falsehood and into truth.
"Come out of her my people and be ye separate and touch not the unclean thing."

I do. I believe all religions have a "harm none, do as ye will" backing to them. (Or if you're Christian, it would be the "do unto others...")
