I have heard that you can loose inches rather than lbs when on a diet (say in the first couple of weeks).

How many inches are there between clothes sizes for example between 12, 14, 16 etc (UK sizes)?

how many inches would i need to loose to drop a dress size?

The only temporary way to lose inches is by going to a beauty salon and getting one of those plastic wraps. It only lasts for the evening. It is weight you need to lose per dress size approx 10lbs, which relates to an inch all over but it may be more in one place than another. The first couple of weeks of dieting you lose fluid as well as fat and this means you lose more weight then than in future weeks. Therefore more inches but this depends on how much weight you lose. This too is temporary if you do not continue with the diet.

Usually there are 1 or 2 inches between clothes sizes. Basically the bigger the clothes size, the bigger the difference in inches between sizes.

Here are the typical measurements for UK clothes sizes:

UK size 10: 34-26-36
UK size 12: 36-28-38
UK size 14: 38-30-40

You best loose inches by excercise. Do cardio every other day, weight training every other day. Try things where you use as many muscles in your body at the same time, like deadweights, lounges, squats with weights, benchpress, jumps, step ups, rowing, interval running, spinning and inches will fall off and you'll tone up as well.

It is also important to have a healthy balanced diet and as little as possible if any alcohol, caffine and sugar.

Good luck

You'll lose inches not pounds because you're body is using up the fat stores but you'll be adding muscle. Muscle takes up less space than fat , but weighs more. Hence, you get smaller, but weigh the same (ish).
