No. See the relevent sections of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. This prohibits the importation of the said dog. Currently all Pit Bull Terriers must be registered with the police and the local authority. Currently No-one is permitted to breed this animal either as this act was brought to the statute initially to eradicate the breed from UK shores. No one is permitted to sell or exchange this dog either. The Act is extensive but I hope that the main points are covered for you.The other purpose was to control any dog considered to be dangerous or dangerously out of control.

Not, Are American Pit Bulls not allowed in the UK. Law about Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, prohibits four types of dog the Pit Bull Terrier, the Japanese tosa, the Dogo Argentino, the Fila Brasileiro.
It is an offence to own or keep any of the above types of dog, unless it is on the Index of Exempted Dogs and is in compliance with the requirements. In any event it is an offence to breed from, sell or exchange (even as a gift) such a dog, irrespective of whether it has been placed on the Index of Exempted Dogs.
Section 3 of the 1991 Act created a new offence of being an owner of a dog of any type or breed which is dangerously out of control in a public place or a non-public place in which it is not permitted to be. Please look Law-article: http://www.hmso.gov.uk/acts/acts1991/Ukpga_19910065_en_1.htm

They are an illegal breed. This means they cannot be bred or sold.If you already own 1 you can keep it if you get a licence, have it neutered/spayed,microchipped and tattooed. It must also be kept leashed and muzzled whenever it is in a public place.
This is a stupid law as when well trained they are great family pets.It was bad owners which gave them a bad name.

No. These dogs are banned because of the idiots who have bred them to be fighting dogs. Too many people have been injured or killed by these dogs. All dogs can be vicious if mishandled or provoked.
