The hair makes your scalp itch initially then it will die down. Get a good braid spray like Suplher 8 and that will stop the itching quickly.

It is a number of things- braiding it often pulls the hair tight, which causes irritation and the itch.

It might also be the scalp is not used to the texture of the wig, and despite the similarities to your real hair, it might still agitate your scalp.

It lasts until your hair gets used to it.

I doubt there's much you can do, but try soothing shampoos & conditioners- one thing that reduces itchyness(as well as dandruff)) is Neutrogena Tar shampoo.. ((it has tar somewhere in the name..))

Maybe before you braid it with a wig, you probably need to oil your entire scalp with ''Tea Tree Oil'' hairdress for itchy scalp.
You can buy it at any Ethnic hair store or at Sally's. (The label is green) and it has a refreshing smell. There's menthol in the ingredients and that's what helps with the itchiness.

You are stretching your hair too tight onto the scalp. Let it go a little more loose! you will find the irritation will stop.
