thank him for the invitation and tell him why you can't accept it. you don't have to make excuses, and you should not really make any because that would only hurt the guy. be true but decline the offer in the nicest way possible. besides, you can still be friends, can't you?

I do! Say thank you for the invitation but I see you as a friend or say thank you but I am not interested. And leave it at that..don't try to explain yourself....keep it short and sweet...good luck!
