I don't agree at all. My LCD is stunningly clear. I won't argue as to which is better since they both have their pros and cons. If your LCD looked like crap, it was one of two things, you either bought a piece of junk no-name, or you didn't have it hooked up properly. My Sony Bravia, on high definition, rivals photos or movie theaters in quality of picture. It even looks great on low def stuff... that's saying something since most high def sets have trouble retaining picture quality when upscaling. Plasmas are most definitely NOT far superior in picture quality. They are marginally superior in some respects. In terms of definition, there is no difference between a good plasma and a good LCD. Plasmas have to be glass for strength. It's part of the structure to keep the gases in their proper "cells"... plastic is too flexible. LCDs use plastic... well, because they can. It's probably to keep weight down. The plus side is, they don't break. The down side is, they scratch easily, so you have to keep them out of harm's way.

not sure, i was told by a sales rep that LCD was a much better quality tv whilst plasma's incur lots of trouble with them because they run on a gas bulb and lately they play up, blow the gas and stuff the tv
so we bought an LCD tv but i do sometimes think to myself how clear the picture is on a plasma and they are MUCH bigger in size even when compared to an LCD of the SAME size..

My Gran's CRT television - some imprecise make - finally packed in after 23 years and that i offered her ... yet another CRT. She's ninety 4 in Feb and this one will take her previous her hundredth birthday. I even have examine of the topics you stated and that i nonetheless locate lcd and Plasma television's too costly on the 2nd. frequently your coverage won't conceal unintended harm to the demonstrate screen as that's merely too costly an determination. CRT's take a good form of abuse. to offer you some thought, I examine that a plasma will perform continuously, 24/7/365, for 3 years formerly it packs up. An lcd will do a similar yet for 5 years. in step with hazard yet another CRT is the extra useful thank you to bypass - a good form of your money would be occurring the recent addition on your loved ones. Congratulations, I choose all of you nicely for the destiny!

Glass screens can handle the pressure of the gas that ENERGIZES the phosphors....Plastic is used for it's lightweight properties.
Although PLASMA SEEMS Better, LCD/DLP and especially CRT Projection all have SPECIFIC Benefits......
http://www.displaymate.com/ShootOut_Comparison.htm
As for me and my HDTV....I chose CRT Projection....I can fix it cheaply, align it if needed, sharpen the scanning beam WHENEVER I want....all without it leaving the home.
I walk in on a Plasma-job and it's gotta go to the office, no matter what it needs......and most likely it's going to need the display.
Projection TV owners may have ONE $300 repair bill in the life of the TV. Or two at most....
Plasma owners start at $500 and higher
LCD/DLP owners......$350 every 3-4 years......

lcds have more advantages over plasmas for sure. it also depends on many other factors, like contrast ratio, processor speed etc. the best is lcos technology or sxrd (sony) which minimizes this disadvantages of plasma and lcds
