John 3:36 says, "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

Yes, that's true. There are many supporting passages in the New Testament, not the least of which is where Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

It is true in the sense that believing is the requirement for everlasting life. Believing not condemns a person to the second death (hell).

John 3:35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Great benefits flow to mankind because of the value of Jesus’ blood. On the basis of the ransom, repentant human sinners can enjoy a close relationship with God. In addition, the ransom opens the way for a resurrection of the dead into God’s new world. That will include faithful servants of God who died before Jesus paid the ransom and even many who died in ignorance and did not worship Him. The Bible says: “There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Acts 24:15) At that time, based on the ransom, Jehovah will grant all obedient humans everlasting life. (JOHN 3:36) Jesus himself explained: “God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) All these benefits will flow to mankind because of God’s provision of the ransom sacrifice.

God wanted Adam and Eve to live forever on earth but they last this privilege after they sinned. To repair the damage God sent his son who sacrificed himself so that our sins to be forgiven. It's simple. We won't live in heaven but here, on earth.

It reads in part "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life".

Clearly there are a lot of people who believed in Jesus who are now dead. Therefore John 3:36 is false.

Let the denial festival begin.

Indeed it is.

Hath everlasting life - Has or is in possession of that which is a recovery from spiritual death, and which will result in eternal life in heaven. Piety here is the same that it will be there, except that it will be expanded, matured, purified, made more glorious. It is here life begun the first breathings and pantings of the soul for immortality; yet it is life, though at first feeble and faint, which is eternal in its nature, and which shall be matured in the full and perfect bliss of heaven. The Christian here has a foretaste of the world of glory, and enjoys the same kind of felicity, though not the same degree, that he will there.

Shall not see life - Shall neither enjoy true life or happiness here nor in the world to come. Shall never enter heaven.
The wrath of God - The anger of God for sin. His opposition to sin, and its terrible effects in this world and the next.

Abideth on him - This implies that he is “now” under the wrath of God, or under condemnation. It implies, also, that it will continue to remain on him. It will “abide” or “dwell” there as its appropriate habitation. As there is no way of escaping the wrath of God but by the Lord Jesus Christ, so those who will not believe must go to eternity “as they are,” and bear alone and unpitied all that God may choose to inflict as the expression of “his” sense of sin. Such is the miserable condition of the sinner! Yet thousands choose to remain in this state, and to encounter alone all that is terrible in the wrath of Almighty God, rather than come to Jesus, who has borne their sins in his own body on the tree, and who is willing to bless them with the peace, and purity, and joy of immortal life.
