Mine took a different road> it was....You will sit there till you eat every bite!!!!! ( I got to witness my grandmother fall off a ladder and injure herself very badly...still cant eat that particular food!!)
also, my older sister telling me You are so ugly, and stupid, you cant do anything right. We all hate you. These methods did not work ,of course, what did was my father saying ..."I would rather you did not do that..but it is up to you. I will be very disappointed if you do though" The best form of discipline is a good ,loving relationship between child and parent.
The phrase went> ' your *** is grass and I'm the lawn mower". (older sister again, boy did we go the rounds!! I had to hide in the attic under the eaves where she was too big to get in there so she couldn't hit me.. but I got my licks in also, She laid down on the floor to roll with laughter one time...so I stepped on the back of her hair and yanked up on the front with all my might...and ran laughing with glee to the attic to wait for my parents to get home.) Even bad parents teach their kids how to behave...they learn to be just the opposite!

I will never tell my child:
1. ...because I said so, that's why.
2. You look like you're asking [to get raped] dressed like that.
3. I love you, but I don't like you right now.
But the worst was when they said nothing at all.....
I will never be that parent.

I remember my father saying "I don't have much confidence in you". Now, 40 years later, my son says I have more issues than National Geographic. Wonder why?

I think the worst thing my Father ever said was "To think...I actually talked your mother out of getting an abortion." We still laugh about that.

Your Cousin was always better at that.
I'm warning you to keep your mouth shut.
When I was wee... Young one's had respect for their elders...
Basically, anything that puts your child down, should not be said!!
