You don't see many church's of the Idolator in my neighbourhood...at least they aren't named that anyway!
I have to correct the person above, Buddhists do not worship idols, the Buddha statues are only a symbol to remind Buddhists to meditate and to seek enlightenment (similar to the cross for Christians but not so gruesome).

The Bible commands us to suppress those desires that are sinful.
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God . . . Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience (Colossians 3:3,5).

not many people in the history of religion has ever worshiped idols.
if you study the religions of the pagans you will find they "Use"
idols to focus their worship on the deity that the idol represents.
[kinda like how Christians use the crucifix]

yea
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they'd made.
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming,
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls,
And tenement halls,"
And whispered in the sounds of silence....

Yes. It is called witchcraft. Any means to get to God other than through Jesus Christ is witchcraft and idols are a chief tool of such.
