CONTROL YOUR ACTIVITY IN OUTSIDE WILL BE EASY.
BUT CONTROL YOUR ACTIVITY WITH IN YOURSELF IS MORE DIFFICULT.BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW YOURSELF COMPLETELY

Mind can not be controlled by mind. When you are having a set of thoughts you can divert your attention with another set of thoughts. Even Shri Krishna has agreed in Bagavat Gita, it is difficult to control the mind but with practice we can achieve it. But so far as we are concerned mind persists always and everywhere. Then what is the remedy? Watch the mind, Watch your thoughts, but do not react to your thoughts.Be a mute witness. Then slowly the force of thinking will come down. First you must conquer ego and relinquish desires, But it is very difficult and as you said it is tougher than death. nagarajan.

Mind is like a naughty child, u ask a naughty child not to go to a place or not to touch anything, the child will go and disturb the things which he was forbidden to do. Do not make any effort to control the mind. Just sit quitely in a room or a place u like and start observing ur breath as u inhale from the tip of ur nose down to ur root chakra and vice versa. U will notice that there is a clutter of thoughts inside u and u are involved in inner talk and ignore breath. It will happen a number of times that ur breath is ignored by u. Soon come back to observing ur breath and to begin with start reverse counting alongwith observing ur breath so that u are able to observe. Practice this exercise at least twice a day. U will observe a change in ur thought pattern. The inner clutter will subside and eventually go away altogether. Then u will be another person with inner calm and joyful living.

Death is inevitable and it will come once in a life time. But mind will wander beyond that. It is very difficult to control it. to control mind is tougher than to get death.

Control of mind and death are two different things.
First, you take it guaranted that death is not in anyone's control so you cant compare it with control of mind.
Second thing, you are not guading your mind so you call it as you cant control. You sit, just see what ideas are coming into your mind. Just see, dont try to control, just keep on watching. You will feel, how easy it is to control it. If the doors are open, thieves will enter, if the doors are guarded, no unwanted person will enter ; and so in case of mind. You guard it, you will find, it is in your control.

Shri Krishna stressed the same thing in Gita saying that it is very difficult to control mind but with constant practice it can be brought under control

So this may be difficult but not impossible. ...and the path of spirituality is for pioneers not for the common herd.

Had mind control been easy, everyone would have done it

Mind control:

Some perfect examples are Lord Buddha / Mahatma Gandhi / Saradha Devi / Ramakrishna Paramahamsa / Swami Vivekananda / Rabindranath Tagore...

One common trait amongst all of them:

-Determine the purpose of life and explore
-Ask questions before doing anything and the importance and relevance of it all

You don't have to try hard to die. Just jump down or swallow 100 tablets of panadol, you will die automatically. But controlling your mind is hard. If it was easier, then the world would have been a very peaceful place.
