YOUR local social services will have a list of registered minders.

you could try an internet based directory of babysitters. www.findasitter.co.uk has good coverage in your area and only costs £30 for the year. You negotiate rates with the sitters themselves. I run findasitter and set it up because I couldn't find reliable sitters locally. there are over 650 parenst using it and almost 1700 babysitters registered now. hope this helps

Do they go to school yet? If so ask some of your fellow parents.

It will be difficult to find someone you can trust especially one who says they will do it for free. Beware.

Contact the local authority for a list of registered childminders but they may not be available for evening work.

Best to make friends and then see who has got teenage children that are interested in babysitting.
