Does anybody know what causes gums to recede? I brush and floss and diet is good. Is there a mineral/vitamin supplement that might help?

Dear friend,
Gums recede only when they are either genetically inclined or generations inherited paternally. There is one more possibility of infected gums that are internally gone bad, despite outward total care of regular flossing. Try special gum medications and tablets that combine the effect of out & in care of gums, use expert dentist /dental surgeon advice for you. No two gums are of same skin type. So also , remains for the gum problems. It is always wiser to be on the safe side & consulted than be aware later. I think you will now agree to this answer. God bless you.===yadsan

i'm not sure there is anything you can take to help. i have a receding gum line too and my dentist said that it's pretty bad and i should think of getting skin graphs from the top of my mouth and fix it. whatever you have just dont brush hard on it and get an extra soft bristle tooth brush

I'm dealing w/ a little bit gumline recession also :( My dental hygienist pointed out since I'm left handed, I have more recession on the right side from being heavy-handed w/ my toothbrush. Thanks to her recommendations I now use a really soft toothbrush & I brush really gently at an angle close to the gumline. Investing in a waterpik could be worthwhile & it's really refreshing & gentle. Vitamin C is susposed to be good for gums too. hth
