Perhaps God is rather like Oscar Wilde's Dorian Grey...seemingly forever young and beautiful beyond corruption but his portrait hidden in the basement (hell) bears and shows the horrific and corrupt side of him...
The Devil and God are a double act, either one alone makes little sense without the other so I propose they are different aspects of one and the same entity.
What do you think?

The devil is a fallen angel of God. Lucifer was one of the most beautiful angels in all of heaven. And he became jealous of God and wanted to become as good if not better than God and was cast out of Heaven for his sin. Those who chose to follow Lucifer were also cast out these fallen angels are now refered to as demons.

You say that God and the devil are a double act but that is just not true. God existed long before even the creation of Lucifer.

In ancient religions the mother godess was one and she manifested all her white and black powers.... from that sprang the different gods and godesses..... that was the primitive thinking of man kind.....

.... in our Christian belief God is the creator of all beings.... he can not have a dark side as evil is an imperfection of Goodness... God is perfect.

.... evil is related to the weakness of man kind and in my belief to also the devil (fallen angel lucifer and the angels who follwed him in their arrogance).....

.... when people know GOD he will shine on them with blessings and wisdom and questions like these resolve themselves automatically in the light of what is true and eternal.

The New Testament Satan is our proof that Man is Free Will. Nothing more. Without a antagonist, the protagonist is a puppet on radio control.

Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
