Hi,

My hubby had a friend a few years ago who was a prison officer at HMP Dartmoor at the time and was also an officer (lieutenant) in the TA.

Unless the rule have changed then go for it. My hubby is ex 2 para, he said good luck.

No same as me I was a police officer and at time of joining that overrode my reserve time left to serve in the RAF.Yours is a reserved occupation which would like the police be even more necessary in wartime.

There are certain jobs that are not allowed to join the TA. I was a civil servant and as such I was not allowed to join the TA.
It is to do with if we went to war, you would not be able to be spared from your job for long period of time.

the question makes no sense- the manager told you that you can not join because of the age requirement.

I think anyone is entitled to join, why don't you find out from your local TA branch.
