and to the lady that called it an easiel what are you smoking????? since when is an easil like 8ft tall??????

You want to open up a wall that is load bearing?? Although it is beautiful, I don't think the room divider pictured is going to be adequate. For a load bearing wall you need a certain PSI (lbs per inch) density and would need something solid. Check you local building codes. We just did the same thing in our kitchen and had solid cherry columns made to support the load.
Good luck with your project!

The item shown is a room divider as mentioned by previous answers. The "style" of it is "Arts & Crafts". However - STRONG WORDS OF CAUTION HERE: - as the wall you wish to open up is a load-bearing wall, you MUST have a qualified carpenter do the work by taking out the wall, and installing a beam of the proper load qualification for the span. THIS MUST BE DONE PROPERLY, or you endanger the safety and integrity of the structure (building).
The item you showed is lovely and my grandparents old home did have something like this built right in. Get quotes from a construction firm on installing the load-bearing beam, and on a cabinet maker for custom making the divider unit.
Cheers!

Hi, the thing you showed us can be used as two things. Either, a fireplace surround. Or, it can be used as a room divider. Alot of older multistory homes use these to seperate the dining room from the living room. Your best place to look for something like this would be a cabinet maker or fireplace show room. Show them this picture. I don't think you are going to be able to just walk in a store and pick out one and walk out with it that day....I think they are a made to order item.

Your question was not even slightly descriptive of WHAT in the picture you were describing.
I'm thinking that when you are asking for help, rudeness is not the way to go.
But I would say hire a qualified carpenter and a fine quality cabinet maker. And of course check out the bearing wall first.
Yes, your rude!!.

If you are talking about the dark thing in the middle and to the back.... That is a fireplace mantle. I'd imagine you could also have one custom made at any carpentry shop. If you're looking for one pre-made... they're usually not that great, and made with press board. I'd say go to a local carpenter.

That is a room divider and is over 7' feet tall, you could contract a carpenter to see what he would charge to build something like that to fit your home. Doesn't hurt to ask and see what something like this would cost to have built.

the answer : holder for a beautiful picture that holds the picture. Home Interior used to have them. It's an Easel that holds the beautiful picture to display it on the mantle.
