Just look at all the answers you've already received - now here's mine, and I'm sure there are more to come! You must be really confused now!
Only you can decide how to decorate your bedroom. Actually, I have seen shades of rich mochas or chocolate browns paired with a pale aqua blue, and it's lovely. If you like these colors, use them. Maybe your friend stole the idea from you, or maybe she likes your style and taste!
One suggestion is to find an item you love - could be a quilt, a bedspread, a comforter, a throw pillow, an accent rug, a painting, or other piece of art. Use this "inspiration piece" for your decorating palette. Pull out one of the colors for wall color, but make sure it's not a jarring, dark or dreary color. Try to choose a shade that's clear and lovely.
Then choose complementary color/colors for your accessories and accents. Let your inspiration piece guide you for color combinations that go together.
You can take a pillow sham, or a small rug, or a picture to the paint store with you, and an experienced paint salesperson can help you match it.
If you choose a neutral color for your walls such as shades of ivory, taupe, beige, etc (and there are many beautiful colors in this palette) you shouldn't have any problems accessoriizing or choosing furniture or accent colors.
Look through decorating books or magazines for a bedroom you love - then create your own version of it, using the colors and style elements.
Good luck.

I have been obsessed with red for the last 2 years, so my bedroom is mostly colors of deep reds and some brown (mostly from dark wood.)
Interestingly enough, i have developed over the last year a really bad sleeping schedule. Staying up too late, sleeping in, going on 4 hours of sleep for 2 days, etc. etc. I get too much and too little sleep. Now, i am not saying the red 100% CAUSED the sleep issues, but i have since red in many books that you should never use red in your bedroom (nor orange or yellow.) These are considered warm, but ACTIVE colors which increases energy, stimulates, as well as cheers you.
Passive colors, or cool colors, like blue, green and purple are supposed to pacify and calm you. they are considered ideal for bedrooms.
SO, why don't you pick one of the three cool colors and just use different hues of that color. That can be a really cool effect.
Good luck and hope you get a restful sleep! :)

My living room is blue and mocha and i think if that is what you like you should go for it. Just make it look better than your friend's and you'll be satisified :-)! I chose Benjamin Moore Yarmouth Blue (it's one of their historical colors and you can see it on their website). I just did most of the walls this blue and one cream. Then my accents are a mix of mocha furniture, a mocha trimmed mirror and dark wicker. For bedding Target has some brown and blue comforters and I think Pottery Barn does to. Let us know what you decide and how it comes out!

i like berry and cream, the brown and blue is nice but brown and teal alot better i have this in my kids living/playroom,what about mocha with chocolate and creams, the new in colour at the moment is like a burnt orange with cream,i love cream as you can tell a warm natural colour that goes with anything,if have that as your main colour you can swap and change the acent colour as much as you like.my advice would be go to next.co.uk the amount of colours and ideas they have are great i get my stuff from there and its reasonable price too, also wilkinsons for things like candles, cushions, pictures.i love decorating and all the girly touches.have fun.x

I like my bedroom to be calm, a haven of peace if you like - it's the place I go to relax and sleep so it must be neutral for me. I've painted it a lovely rich cream (a bit like white chocolate), have a cream blackout blind and cream/beige faux suede curtains. Personally, I think it looks lovely and I wouldn't go for anything too dramatic in a bedroom, decor-wise that is!
