It is OK if this person turns out to be legit. Often, they're creeps, so be VERY careful and never meet someone you met online in person, without lots of people around including someone even on the date. I have known people to find great friends and love online, but all too often it's a scam, so just take it one step at a time and be very careful.

The important question to ask is whether your tastes match, whether you connect at the same level and if you share the same values. Start talking on the phone, once you do that you'll realize if you friendship is worth to be a relationship. If things go well you are bound to meet up. Then you can start thinking of a relationship.

it's dangerous nowadays to just jump into a relationship, especially with someone you know only virtually. they could be posing as someone they're not and be total psychos. be careful.

I would be cautious. People don't have to be who they are online or vice versa.
