Volkswagon is a very well-engineered and well-built automobile. The Germans build high quality automobiles that have performed well for many decades. When buying any used cars a person should take the car(if possible)to a reputable mechanic so the condition of the car can be ascertained. A car should be researched on the internet to see if it has been wrecked or any other damage has been documented. A prospective buyer of a used car should look at engine compression, overall appearance, service documentation, the amount of highway/city miles, and the occupation of the previous owner. Don't be afraid to contact the previous owner if you are serious about a car from a lot. Good luck in finding a good car. Volkswagon is a very good choice.

the motor and tranny should last you a good while in that car, but it will nickle and dime you with electrical issues to death. Reliability at that stage also matters a huge amount on the previous owners and how they did maitenance.

and its Volkswagen, not volks wagon. And stop using all caps.

There are lots of factors to see. 4cylinder doesn't last as long as six and eight. I would say over 200K if it's well maintained.
