I had a road accident when i was 17 and smashed my skull in, in the end they operated on me after many infections with the craneoplast that they were putting in my head, and they put in the other half of my skull (split in half) I had a nose job shortly after all this, but now i seem to get a headache every 4 to 5 days. Can anyone put their finger on what is causing these headaches.

I can't say for sure, but it sounds like they might be in the migraine family. You might want to go to a neurologist. They have been using what is actually an old drug that has been used for a lot of different reasons to stop headaches these days, it is called topomax. There is a chance that this might work to help stop your headaches. You should talk to a doctor about this. I know I started taking it for pain and found that as a side effect it stopped my headaches. We found this out only by chance when I tried switching drugs, and the new drug didn't work,, and the headaches started coming on daily. I went back to the topomax and have once again been headache free. But you need to talk to a neurologist, it may not be a drug for you.

Blah, blah, blah, so you've had a head injury? It is quite easy once you've had something serious to think every little thing is related to the injury. In my case it's only natural but 9 out of 10 times, it's just a simple coincidence. It took me a fair few years to get by this stage, not that I am saying it is necessarily a stage with you as I am unqualified to comment on such matters, if you are worried you should not be on a site like this where speculation could be the wrong answer. You know yourself what the answer is, go and see your doctor. OK, you feel a bit of a fraudster if it turns out to be something else, like hormonal or stress related but you can as you know how scary it is to have a serious injury, that you must get it checked out by whomever is responsible for you medical care, be it a neurologist or your G.P. I hope it is something simple and paracetamols can take care of it. Much less hassle eh? Good luck!

You are only 17 years old and you want to do a lot more living. I am sorry to hear that you have been through so much in your short time so far, please do not ignore previous advice and go and speak to your specialist. I am sure they will take you queries seriously and you should not hesitate to contact them. Do not be concerned about seeing them, it is the wise thing to do especially after everything you have been through. I am going to start praying for you right now!!
But be sensible, when you have gone through so much, do not hesitate to see the Dr's who have been with you since the accident. God bless!

Do you have sensitivity to light? My husband's step-sister had a head injury several years ago and she has to wear sunglasses even while indoors because she gets horrible headaches. She has to go in for injections when she gets her migraines. Discuss this with your doctor.

No one should attempt to make an on line diagnosis in your case, let alone suggest treatment. Go see your GP!
