I am a Wiccan, and yes there are, and EGO won't allow me to elaborate..I will just say that in ritual you draw power from the Universe and the Elementals... If you Christians once again want to start on your Satan line, I will tell you for the 1,000,000th time.. We don't believe in your God or your Satan, do I make myself clear.. I speak on behalf of all Wiccans in that regard..Now I will tell you a little story, somewhere in the 1800's in England a school banned their little girls from singing, Ring-A-Ring-A Roses.. A harmless nursery rhyme, but when sung aloud by many young girls as they skipped rope it caused all sorts of mysterious happenings.. Only my fellow practitioners would fully understand what power this would be possible to manifest..See how many layers there are on an onion, peal one away and you may learn something... There are also many more layers... Love and Light .. Blessed Be .. )O(

Yes. Otherwise why people continue to follow.
For example petrol is having power to move a vehicle. When this happens? Only when we put the petrol in a car or scooter etc. The vehicle must be in running condition. The driver must know how to start the engine and drive the vehicle. The surface of the path should be good not on water or slushy lands.
Similarly when the rituals are followed, there are certain prerequisites. The place should be holy. The performer must be sincere. The material used should be pure and obtained with well earned money but not with ill gotten money. The people engaged in the process also should be pious. The time should be auspicious. The ritual selected should be appropriate. That means for education Saraswati pooja and for wealth Laxmi pooja etc.
That means in a vehicle the engine, brakes, wheels etc should be in good condition to move not only the petrol.
If all reuisites are met the rituals will give fantastic results.

Yes. However one has to see its effects to believe.
I had seen in two cases , where , after the rituals , the bad effects were reduced.
One , where a departed soul , was freed , after the rituals were performed .
In the other , in a housing society , series of deaths was arrested , after performance of some pujas.
People turn to rituals , when everything else fails .
It requires a very strong willed person , to not to believe in rituals and out rightly term all the rituals as bogus!

As we walk, we are unmindful of our steps even on rough surface.
But when you climb a stair case you exercise care on your steps so that you do not wrong foot.
When you climb a steep mountain you need a stick to add strength to your steps, not to speek of icy tracks.
When you are on a tight rope, you need a long pole to manage your weight on the rope and you also shake your legs rhythmically, so that you are able to balance yourself and exclude a fall., while forwrding your legs to proceed to the other end.
As we grow and crose a span of life we come acrose a number of events which may help you to succeed or fail. You have mutiple choices to adhere and follow. There is no one to show you a direction, but perhaps those interested in you and on whom you can rely upon. There is always a chance of your going wrong, inspite of the advices. This is on the one side.
On the other you achive more and more because of your application and hard work. You are endowed with an intellect which others may not possess,.(for e.g. memory power). You start admiring yourself and a overconfident approach may slow down the verosity and vision of your assessments, or you may overshoot.
Under both these circumstances following a ritual has the qulity of guiding you to right decision. It is the power of prayer.
Rituals comprise of yanthra, Manthra, and a Homa. That is a geometric design, phonotical sounds ( the mantras) when chanted repeatedly generate ultra sound vibration. Along with this when a Homa (a small pit of burning fire) into which certain herbs and ghee are droped is lit, it spreads in the atmosphere cetain energy fields over which the ultra sound waves jointly chanted by a number of persons in the same rhythm and measure, affect the eisthetic values of the Yajaman(the one who performs), and form a bio magnetic energy into him, which will provide him with necessary mental ability to face a problem or to steer a way.
In simple words when preyers are done by a group of persons jointly they produce beneficial effects for all.
The rituals have the power of changing the course. Efforts are of the individual and success is with the blessings of God
I think whereever it is possible it is better to perform appropriate rituals with the help of well trained, knowledgeable persons.

Rituals are means to help humans face certain situations / group together / live together / understand life
1. The rituals and rites that are performed after death: It is more than enough to just dump the dead i a pit...and move on right.. But the living have attachements to the just dead, and to help the living move on with their lives each society has its own rituals and rites - and these help the living express their grief, sorrow, accept their loved one has moved on in life, and readjust to everyday living.
Here the power of ritual is social adjustment, individual adjustment, family adjustment
2. The ritual of marraige: The elaborate ceremonies attached to marraiges help the bride and groom move from being single beings to become two people who intend living the rest of their lives together. It also helps the bride and groom to publicly display their intention of having chosen the other to raise a family and do good to society.
Not just them, it also helps the families to know each other, provides the brides family to rejoice at getting a new son, but also let go of their daughter.
3. Similarly in ancient cultures there are many other rituals / small and large that reinforce their beliefs in valueing mother nature:
-The pow wow by native American Indians
-Pongal or sankranthi by Asian Indians
Rituals have the power to reinforce values and rich traditions

Yes. There are powers in rituals. Because rituals demand discipline and anything followed with discipline has lots of power.

It all depends on what ritual you are intending to perform. There are only two classifications---good and evil. There is power in both, and on the same token, you should have knowledge before you attempt such things. Have you ever heard of the cliche`---be careful what you wish for, you just might get it? or curiosity killed the cat? Sometimes, people do things as a joke and/or a experiment, therefore, opening up a port hole for "demonic" entities waiting for an opportunity.

Rituals contains their own potential. In Hindu philosophy, ritual offerings of food, grain, flowers, cloth and even the nine gems to the fire god brings prosperity to the human society. It is being practiced throughout India. Even when the seasonal rain fails, we conduct appropriate rituals and there are several examples of good showers of rain immediately after the rituals. I head even in other countries or religions several ritual practice are being followed with the same aim.

I think the only "power" is that (1) If people believe strongly enough in them, the people themselves will bring about the desired results, and (2) People find comfort in rituals. They're familiar.
