Low hemoglobin is often a sign your missing essential vitamins and minerals from your diet - what you ate as a vego 25 years ago may no longer be suitable for a body that's getting older. Low hemoglobin levels are often treated with iron, folic acid, or vitamin B12 or B6 supplements. Check with your GP, but these vitamins should make a difference.

Eat lots of Spinach. As a vegitarian you are not eating enough Iron. Hemoglobin is most readily affected by your iron count. If you have low Iron you are eniemic and will have a low hemoglobin count. Liver is very high in Iron as is spinach. Talk with your doctor about this, as their are more serious things which also might be causeing this low hemoglobin count which need to be explored. Most likely it is just low iron which is translating to low hemoglobin.
