Your hound's breeder is the best place to start.
If they show they should be able to guide you, if not perhaps the stud owner can help?
Do join the breed club and ask locally for ringcraft classes or shows.

I agree with most others that you should contact a club. I live in Australia and have a Rhodesian Ridgeback. When he was younger we thought of doing the same.coz he is beautiful. We went along to a Ridgeback dog show but never did anything about it after that.So i say go for it.they are such a lovely breed of dog.I want more of them!! good luck

Join the breed club I did with my St Bernard's you ll get an idea of breed standards and be able to compare your dog with others often though you think your dog is adorable it is not always up to show standard.I wish you has much luck as I had mine went on to win championship shows again and again and qualified for Crufts. We got hooked when my first dog went to the St Bernard of the Year show one dat after he was six moths old and came second as a puppy against all the top breeders and other pups.

first of all you should join a ring craft club in your area, ask kennel club about this as most are licensed, then go and join in,there they will teach you how to stand your dog,in the best position to show of your dogs confirmation, you will then be taught to run up and down, and to do a triangle, the dog must be on the side of the judge at all times,so as he can see the dog,and not your legs, this can be good fun,and usually very friendly,
then once you have confidence start buying the Dog World or Our Dogs newspapers, where in the back pages they will have lists of all upcoming shows, dates etc,be warned there are closing dates on these, and you should look for open shows to start with,as they make good learning grounds, then progress onto Championship shows,
most of all make sure your dog is loving it all,as some really do not like showing, they can be very crowded places, and if your dog is even slightly nervy of strangers this will make it all a very worrying time for it,you could also contact the owner of your dog,and ask if you could pay them a visit with it,to get their opinions on whether or not it would make a good show dog,not all have correct ridge, confirmation, bites, etc,
I hope you enjoy it,as its a really good hobby to have,
good luck
Wendy

find your nearest ringcraft club. if you can find one specialising in large dogs so much the better. the kennel club keeps a list of all registered clubs and your local dog warden should also be able to help with other clubs in your area that are not registered with the kc. talk to other ridgeback owners in your area. if you don't know any ask your breeder to check out an old show catalogue where he/she could give you the details of other enthusiasts in your area.

Your dog's breeder should be able to help you on this but if not contact your nearest breed club (listed at the bottom of the page in this link.)
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/36
Find out when they hold their shows & go along without your dog at first, you should be able to get plenty of help & guidance from other exhibitors as to whether or not your dog is worth showing (it's very expensive if you are not going to win anything).
Order the weekly dog paper - either Dog World or Our Dogs from your newsagent, they have a list of forthcoming shows & you can get some practice at cheaper local open shows before going straight to Championship shows.
Good Luck

Take it to the kennel club, but don't be disappointed when they tell you that you don't have anything special.
